I have 6 subjects in CBSE and got RT in Physics and Chemistry. This year, I am sitting for Chemistry compartment and replacing Physics to officially pass 12th standard. Next year, can I sit for CBSE improvement for my failed Physics exam? I want to appear for JEE 2027. Will there be any issues?
Hey,
Yes, you can appear for the CBSE exam next year as a private candidate to clear Physics. But since it’s a failed subject, it will be treated more like a re-appear/supplementary attempt rather than a normal improvement exam.
For JEE 2027, the important thing is that all required subjects should eventually be cleared. During counselling, students in such cases usually show both marksheets together:
• Main marksheet
• Supplementary/improvement marksheet
But honestly, because eligibility rules and document verification can sometimes get tricky in these cases, it’s really important to confirm everything properly with:
• Your school
• CBSE regional office
• Official JoSAA/JEE guidelines
Also make sure you focus on meeting the 75%/Top 20 percentile requirement if you’re targeting NITs/IIITs/IITs.
Hope it helps. All the best!
