What Is The Full Form of BOSS?

The full form of BOSS is the Bharat operating system solution. BOSS stands for Bharat operating system solution which is developed in India by Indian Linux distribution by CDAC (centre of development of advanced computing) and it is customised that can suit India’s digital environment. This Indian operating system mostly supports Indian languages. The CDAC developed this software in order to gain the benefits of Free and Open source software usage across the country. BOSS Linux is the key developer for NRC-FOSS (National Resource Centre for Free and Open Source Software). It is certified by a Linux distributor known as “LSB certified." It supports the architectures of Intel and AMD IA.

BOSS 5.0

The version of BOSS 5.0 is known as ANOKHA which came up with many new applications that are improved versions of security and friendliness. It supports the LSB, i.e., Linux Standard Base, version 4.1. The new version is named XBMC which is user-friendly so they can easily browse and view videos, photos, optical discs, local networks, the internet, etc.

BOSS 6.0

This version is known as ANOOP which consists of notable changes as it shifts the form of system boot from init to system. Iceweasel is a search engine replaced by firefox and several new versions of the repository are available programs were updated by the release of this update. This version did update on localization support which gives a better replacement for SCIM (i.e., Smart Common Input Method which has input in other countries’ languages) with IBus (Intelligent Input Bus) with Integrated System Setting.

BOSS 7.0

This version was the biggest change over other previous versions. It releases the support of the x86 version which was dropped and a new one came up and became available known as x86-64. This release was aimed at enhancing the user interface with the developed and latest application version from the community with glossy themes.

BOSS 8.0

This version is known as Unnati which was developed in Desktop Environment and changed from GNOME to Cinnamon (it is a free and open desktop environment source for Linux and Unix-like operating systems).

BOSS 9.0

This version is the most updated version and is nowadays used by a user. It is known as Urja.

In this version, the Linux kernel is updated to the range of 5.2 to 5.10.
