CIC is the Central Information Commission. Under the provisions of the right to information act 2005, the central information commission was established. They act on complaints of individuals who cannot submit information requests to the central public or state public information officers. They help maintain transparency in the government systems, Thus keeping a check on corruption, nepotism, oppression, abuse, and misuse of authority. It is an independent body. It looks into complaints and appeals regarding offices, public sector undertakings, and financial institutions under the government and union territories. It consists of the Central Information Commissioner and more than ten Information commissioners.
