A diary entry is a written account of a person's day-to-day feelings, events, emotions, and life experiences. Usually written in the first person, it's meant to be a personal account of the author's existence. One can use a diary as a tool for self-reflection, to recall significant experiences or emotions, or to simply record one's everyday activities. They can be kept in a physical diary or online in a format like a blog or journal.

Dear Diary,

As I sit down to write about my experience during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I can't help but feel a sense of unease and sadness. It was a time of great uncertainty and fear, and as a student living with my joint family, the experience was particularly challenging.

Schools and universities were shut down at the beginning of the pandemic, so we were forced to attend our classes online. This was a challenging adjustment for me because I value the classroom setting and in-person interactions with my teachers and classmates. It was difficult to maintain motivation and focus while studying at home, and the absence of structure made it simple to develop bad habits.

It was difficult for me to live with my extended relatives at this time. Everyone remained at home, which increased tension and increased the frequency of disputes. We had a small, claustrophobic living space, and it was challenging to have a quiet place to work or study.

Additionally, we had to take extra precautions to remain safe because we constantly lived in fear of catching COVID-19. We were always sanitising surfaces, putting masks, and cleansing our hands. Even the simplest of tasks, like driving to the grocery store, seemed risky.

I now appreciate how fortunate I was to have my family's assistance during this period. When things got tough, we were able to rely on one another, and we figured out how to make the most of the circumstances. However, the COVID-19 pandemic served as a sobering reminder of how rapidly life can change and the value of savouring the time spent with those we care about.

I hope that we have all learned from this experience and that we can move forward with a greater sense of compassion, empathy, and resilience.

Yours truly,

Sakshi

Dear Diary,

Even though it's been almost a year since I got COVID-19 during my class 11 exams, I can still clearly remember that moment. It was a frightening and challenging event that completely interrupted my future plans.

One morning I recall having a fever and sore tongue. I dismissed it as a simple infection and didn't give it much thought. But as the days passed, my symptoms got worse. I was having difficulty breathing, and I had a painful, lingering cough. I made the decision to get tested for COVID-19 because I felt something was wrong.

I was shocked when the results came back positive. I found it difficult to believe that I had the virus, particularly at such a crucial time in my academic career. I felt as though everything I had fought for was slipping away as I considered missing my class 11 exams.

The subsequent weeks were a blur of worry, medication, and isolation. My family had to take extra precautions to prevent getting the virus themselves because I was unable to leave my room. I felt like I was constantly afraid and unsure because of my poor health.

I was determined to overcome COVID-19 despite my condition. I carried on studying from my room while speaking to my teachers and classmates via video calls. Even better, I was even able to complete some of my exams online.

I eventually bounced back from COVID-19, but the experience left an enduring impression on me. It made me value the little things in life and showed me the value of looking after my physical and mental health. I'm appreciative of my friends and family's support during this trying time, and I hope that we can all continue to be secure and well.

Yours truly,

Jiya
