Do PSUs consider previous work experience at the time of selection through Gate?

It is nothing like that, if u score high rank. It doesn't matter but when two candidates having equal marks in gate then they will generally select one who has M.tech or some work experience. Good Luck!!!

Should I go for a job in a PSU? I am interested in academics, so I dont want to go for PSUs. But I am financially weak.

If you face major financial problem I would suggest you to go for a PSU. But since you are too much interested in acadamics I suggest you to go for higher studies maybe even in future. If you do higher studies in a good premiere institute (IITs/NITs) you get monthly
