There is a very heavy competition for PSU, with 39.87 score the chances of getting into PSU are almost nil. So you can either join M. Tech course or answer GATE again next year and get score so that you can get into PSU.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is conducted annually by IITs for recruitment by PSUs or admissions to postgraduate courses in IITs, NITs, GFTIs and other such colleges.
