Below is the eligibility criteria of the exam-You should have passed HSC/equivalent exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with any one of the subjects
There are two aspects. What your son or you want. Vit or Srm are top private engineering colleges of our country whereas Coep is government college.
If government college is priority, with urge of learning good application of engineering, then Coep is better choice. If you want placements only then

In order to be eligible for COEP Pune you should have 50% aggregate marks in PCM in general category and 45% for reserved category.

According, to previous year cut off you should score more then 150 marks in MHT CET to get COEP Pune in general category.
Cut off marks varies as per the branches as well.

As coep is a well reputed college in the state of maharashtra .It's cut-off is really high as compared to other colleges.As for the general category the cut-off for cse is above 180+.
