It is not mandatory to wear uniform everyday.
College Uniform is only mandatory for students to be present in the Campus Recruitment Programme, failing which the student will not be allowed to sit for campus interview.

College of Engineering, Pune is one of the reputed College in Maharashtra. The placements are good for B.Tech Production Engineering branch and recorded placement percentage of 80 percent.
The highest package offered is Rs. 12 Lakhs per annum and lowest salary offered is Rs. 5 Lakhs per annum.
Admission in COEP through JEE mains are reserved for only 15% seats in All India quota, the rest are through MHT CET. If you want to get admission through jee score then you should score a very high rank.
It seems doubtful that you can get admission in mechanical branch

As for the EWS candidate your cutoff will be almost equal to OBC.
For coep you need min 97.5% for OBC for lower branches in score more than 145.
For EE/ ME/CE you need 98.3+%.
For CS/EC you need 99+%

Dear candidate out of two options which makes it tuff for you to decide, NIT Surat is a very good college and M.Sc Physics curriculum is also nicely taught, but considering the future prospects I would suggest you to choose Metallurgy and Materials Science over this as the placement trends
