my gmr is 119 in pubdet english..is there a chance to get in?

vaibhavi bhalsod 2nd Aug, 2024

Hello student

Congratulations on your PUBDET English score!

With a GMR (General Merit Rank) of 119, you have a good chance of getting admitted to a reputable college. However, the cutoff ranks vary from year to year and depend on several factors like:

1. Number of applicants

2. Seat availability

3. Category-wise reservation

In general, a GMR of 119 is considered a decent score. Here are some possible college options:

1.     - Presidency University*: You might get admission to Presidency University, Kolkata, which is one of the top colleges in West Bengal.

2. _Other top colleges_: You may also get admission to other top colleges like Scottish Church College, Lady Brabourne College, or Loreto College.

3. _Waitlist_: Even if you don't get admission to your preferred college, you might get a waitlist chance.

To increase your chances:

1. _Apply to multiple colleges_: Apply to several colleges to maximize your options.

2. _Check category-wise cutoffs_: If you belong to a reserved category, check the category-wise cutoffs for better chances.

3. _Counseling and admission process_: Attend counseling sessions and follow the admission process carefully to secure your seat.

Keep in mind that cutoff ranks may vary, and admission is not guaranteed. However, with a GMR of 119, you have a reasonable chance of getting admitted to a good college.

i am graduated in science and post graduated in physics. Am i eligible to take admission in MA english?

Ishita 1st Aug, 2024

Hello Aspirant

The eligibility criteria for taking admission to an MA English program is that you should have a credited degree from a UGC-recognised college/university with 50% to 55% aggregate or the optimum number of credits from your bachelor's degree. Your subject of hons is of no importance for it. You may have a degree in Science from your previous institution, or you may have been studying science since your 11th grade, but it would not hinder in you from getting admitted to the MA English program.

One of my classmates from the MA English was a triple major in Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry and was doing an English master's. So your previous degree will not be a problem if you pursue an MA in English.

Hope this helps

Itisha negi 1st Aug, 2024

You can pursue a B.Ed. degree in various languages, including English, in India. Many colleges and universities offer B.Ed. programs with English as the medium of instruction. This allows you to study and teach in English. For instance, institutions like Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, English and Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad, and many others provide B.Ed. courses in English

After completion of my graduation in English through distance learning want to pursue my MA in Bengali... is it possible?

Ishita 31st Jul, 2024

Hello Aspirant

Yes, you can definitely pursue an MA in Bengali even if your undergraduate degree was in English and earned through distance learning.

The eligibility criteria for an MA program is that you should have a bachelor's degree in any subject. So, your BA in English, regardless of the mode of study, qualifies you for admission to an MA in Bengali. A degree in bachelor's via distance education holds the same validity as a distance education's degree.

However, because this is a specialization in a language, some universities/colleges may ask for proficiency in that language, which I presume you have because you chose a specific language course's master's degree.

Hope this helps

which college or university a score of 421 with 95 out of 200 in English, 116 out of 200 in History,86 out of 200 in Home science,62 out of 200 in Political Science, 62 out of 200 in General Test in cuet 2024 can get me as a female of OBC NCL?

Radhika Goyal 29th Sep, 2024

Hy,

With a score of 421 in CUET 2024, here's what you might expect regarding college admissions, particularly for a female candidate in the OBC-NCL category:

  1. Expected Cut-offs : The cut-offs for various courses in top universities are quite competitive. For example, in the University of Delhi (DU), cut-offs for popular courses like BA (Hons) and B.Com (Hons) are expected to be around 630+ and 640+ respectively(

However, for courses like B.A. (Prog), the cut-off could be lower, ranging from 460+
  2. Specific Universities :

    • Delhi University : Based on the previous year’s trends, securing admission in programs like B.A. (Prog) might be feasible, but higher cut-offs in competitive courses like B.Com or B.A. (Hons) could be challenging.
    • BHU (Banaras Hindu University) : The expected cut-off for some courses here is about 160+ out of 850, which might be a better fit depending on the specific program you're interested in.
  3. Factors Influencing Admissions : Admission cut-offs are determined by various factors, including the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the total number of seats available. Given that the competition is increasing, you may want to apply to a range of universities to maximize your chances of admission.

Ishita 3rd Aug, 2024
Hello Aspirant
JNU does not provide BA English in its BA Hons program, it's just foreign languages such as BA in Korean, BA in Spanish, BA in Pushto, BA in Persian, BA in Russian, BA in French, BA in Chinese and BA in Arabic.
If you are looking for a BA in English program, based on your cuet scores JNU is not the university for it.

Here's a link to the Carrers360 page where everything related to JNU's cut off is specified with their eligibility criteria and the program details
