surely being in the list of selected few old iits have it's own perks but iit patna also doesn't lags behind quite that much. in terms of placement iit bhu and faculty iit bhu is far ahead but do check for the difference in trend.

Being from IIT Patna, you can expect a bit biased answer.

I do not have much idea about IIT Jodhpur but I can certainly vouch for the fact that IIT Patna has better infrastructural facilities than IIT Jodhpur since we have been in our Permanent campus for past two years and IIT Jodhpur has recently shifted to their new campus just recently so it would take time for them to adjust to the new setting.

IIT Patna has approximately 10 more seats in CSE Deptt. than IIT Jodhpur ( I am not aware of the 2017 Seat Matrix though )

In the 2017 NIRF Ranking, IIT Patna has performed far better than IIT Jodhpur :

Last year closing rank of civil engineering for OBC candidates was 2444 in IIT,patna and 2545 in ISM,dhanbad. So your brother have chances to get admission at both places.

IIT Patna Cut off 2016 for General Category

Dear aspirant;

ell for Pwd’s you don't require a lots of marks but still for IIT B you require a certain threshold. Paper is of 372 marks. For pwd's a score of 200–250 would be a good bargain to get into a good branch at IIT B

And for patna you can expect a low marks as it is newly opened.

To get admission in IIT Patna, Your rank must lie below AIR 400. that can only be achieved by scoring 55+ Marks in JAM Examination. However, Cutoff varies according to subjects.

If you score 55+ marks in your JAM examination, Then you can get admission in IIT Patna. 

For NIT, Patna you must score 40+ marks [this may vary as per your subject] to secure your admission.
