Which degree is best? BE CSE or BSc Maths. Kindly explain. I studied 12th in 2018 with PCMB and no CS.I havent studied Computer Science til

nimrat17799_9532496 Student Expert 15th Jul, 2019
Hello,
Well different people have different perspectives... But according to my point of view CSE is far better than BSc maths.. I am also a b. TECH CSE student and wasn't having computer science subject in my 12th still i am doing good in cse.. So, it really doesn't matter whether you have opted for cse in 12th or not..
If we compare cse with bsc maths then cse provide good career in different IT sectors.. Its not very difficult branch.. So, you can go for it...

And yes you can too change your branch in b. Tech after the first year.. But only in case if you have good SGPA and have cleared your 1st year without any back log...

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

I got AIR 875 , so what all branches should I prefer in what all IITS?

Anjali Kumari 16th Jun, 2019

Hello dear, firstly congrats you have scored really well,

Coming back to your question in AIR 875, considering you a general category student these are the IIT’s you’ll likely to get.

Core branches like Mech, civil, Ece in the below listed iit’s

IIT KANPUR , IIT KHARAGPUR, IIT MADRAS, IIT GUWAHATI, IIT ROORKEE, IIT VARANASI

And CSE in new iit’s.

IIT DELHI , IIT BOMBAY very little chance of getting even mathematics and scientific computing.

And one thing I would like to add if you are getting non CS branch like EEE or ECE and Mec in old IITs  go for it, as there you will find lots and lots of exposure in every filed from tech to non-tech, a really awesome crowd, lots of opportunities, freedom whereas new IITs lags in all these things. Additionally, branch change is also possible there if you perform really well in your 1st year.  And are several information regarding this branch change, so if you are interested in knowing them, do comment I will get back to you.

What is the difference between computer science and engineering and mathematics and computing engineering?

shashwat dixit 10th Jun, 2019
Computer Science :- is an umbrella term which encompasses four major areas of computing: theory, algorithms, programming languages, and architecture. At the undergraduate level, programs usually cover a broad range of computing topics and allow students to engage in projects across multiple areas. For graduate studies in computer science, it is typical to focus on one area.

Computer Engineering:-  typically focuses specifically on computer hardware and software. It is an integration of computer science and electrical engineering. For this reason, many people who want to become computer engineers earn an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (often with a minor or double major in computer science), and then earn a graduate degree in computer engineering. When searching for a graduate program, look for schools that are equally strong in computer science and engineering.

I got mathematics and computing branch in nit Agartala ,what possibility of placement and carrier.

Harsh Singh 16th Jan, 2022

The first placement was here in nit agartala 2018 you can't blame placement here because they were from mathematics.

And a huge diffrence is there btw mathematics and mathematics and computing as it is a research course and as you see in iit it has huge potential but only few student sit here for placement out of 20 only 7 so other go for PhD or do MS because you can't deny that the significance of MS is much more than mtech currently but if you are genuine and want placement nobody can deny that to you. The coding culture is not great so you would have to start on your own but some seniors are very helpful you get subject like theory of computing,  soft computing, graph theory,  probability and random, data mining and warehousing,  AI, which are all related to machine learning, Matlab will also be taught to you but as you know colleges don't prepare you for interview that you have to do on your own.
