If you like computers and coding stuff than go for cse engineering and if you like travelling and giving time to yourself than merchant navy is the best option. Each of them have their own benefits, like in merchant navy an average student can earn more than an average software engineer. And a software engineer lives with the family everytime and earns enough to take care of family.

Hello Ranaparth,
It is an absolute yes to your answer. You can go for the ETO course which is around 5 months of a residential course in various DG approved institutes of the country. After completion of your course you can search for sponsorships and if by God's grace you get your first ship then you will be sent as a Trainee ETO.
Talking about the qualification, yes you can definitely join in as ETO after 3 years of diploma in ECE. The same goes for the regular 4 year BTech course also in various other disciplines like EEE, ETC etc.
Hope this helps you.
Thanks.
