Question : The force (in pound-force) needed to keep a car from skidding on a curve varies directly with the weight of the car (in pounds) and the square of its speed (in miles per hour [mph]) and inversely with the radius (in feet) of the curve. Suppose 6125 pound-force is required to keep a 2750 pound car, travelling at a speed of 35 mph, from skidding on a curve of radius 550 feet. How much pound-force is then required to keep a 3600-pound car, travelling at a speed of 50 mph, from skidding on a curve of radius 750 feet?

Option 1: 11960

Option 2: 12150

Option 3: 12240

Option 4: 12000

Correct Answer: 12000

Solution : The force ($F$) needed to keep a car from skidding on a curve varies jointly as the weight of the car ($w$) and the square of the car's speed ($s$) and inversely as the radius of the curve ($r$).
$F = k[\frac{ws^2}{r}]$
Given: Force of 6125 pounds is needed to keep a 2750-pound car traveling at 35 mph from skidding on a curve of radius 550 feet.
⇒ $6125 = k[\frac{2750\times{35^2}}{550}]$
$k = 1$
Equation:
$F = 1[\frac{ws^2}{r}]$
⇒ $F = 1[\frac{3600\times{50^2}}{750}]$
⇒ $F = 12000$ pound-force
$\therefore$ 12000 pound-force is then required to keep a 3600-pound car, travelling at a speed of 50 mph, from skidding on a curve of radius 750 feet.
Hence, the correct answer is 12000.

I have filled up wrong class 12 school name(which was to be filled according to marksheet) and school address in JEE MAINS 2024 application form and correction window is over .Will it cause problem in Josaa counselling?

Tanya Gupta 18th Jan, 2024

Hello,

I cannot guarantee you that nothing will happen. This can go away unnoticed as well but there is no guarantee about that. Errors in your JEE MAINS application sch as providing incorrect information about your Class 12 school name and address, could potentially impact the verification process during JoSAA counseling.

It's advisable to contact the JEE exam authorities or JoSAA directly to address this issue as they will help you out in further process.

I hope this helps,

Thank you

You haven't clearly mentioned , in which year of engineering you are ? Did you give biololgy exam in your class xii ?

If you want to go to medical field. You will have to appear for Neet. You must score minimum 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology.

Eligibility criteria for neet
The candidate should be an Indian. The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years.

The student must has gained minimum 50% marks in physics, chemistry and biology with English as a language subject.

as my class 10 journey was going on and it will ending soon means my board exam of 2024 and 25 was starting from 21 February to 15 March so I am I have to doubt that can I take admission on South Point High school for class 10th after class 10 board exam in month

Tanya Gupta 20th Jan, 2024

Hello,

I'm not sure what you're trying to ask. If you are asking that if you can get your school changed for class 10th right now when boards are just one month away, then unfortunately no, that is not possible as you have already been registered with your school for the board exams.

If you are asking to repeat class 10th from another school, then definitely you can but you will have to make sure that the other school is the same board as yours.

Hope this helps,

Thank you
