Hello Abhishek, There are fewer Chances for NIT Calicut, NIT Trichy in both manufacturing and thermal because as per last year cutoff in Manufacturing both demand 600+, and for Thermal 700+... 2018 cutoff is expecting the same but the list is not updated yet, but you can other NITs too...
Last year GATE cutoff for IITs and NITS - https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate-cutoff

All the best

Thermal Engineering is a specialised sub-discipline of Mechanical Engineering that deals exclusively with heat energy and its transfer between not only different mediums, but also into other usable forms of energy.
You can go for below provided names - List of Mechanical short term courses AutoCAD CATIA Solid Edge Pro-E Ansys Solid Works CAD/CAM software Fluent / Gambit CNC Programming Unigraphics Coade Piping - Stress Analysis course for Mechanical Graduates PATENT CLAIMS DRAFTING Computer Aided Manufacture Diploma In Tool Design Course in CNC Machining Robotics lab Engineering drawing courses of higher level Matlab course etc. Hope this helps!!!
Both the specializations provide good opportunities in the market. How ever, manufacturing takes an edge over the latter because of its work environment. Even if you observe the cutoffs in IIT s and NITs, manufacturing is observed to have higher cutoffs compared to thermal.
But lastly, I would suggest you to consider your choice, interest and potential before choosing any branch.
Good Luck!!!
