i have air general rank 26k sebc odisha rank 30 general odisha domicile rank 336 do i have any chance in nlu odisha?

Meghdeep Laha 25th Dec, 2025

Hello,

Looking at you SEBC and Odisha Domicile rank it can be said that you good chance of getting into NLU Odisha.

There is a seperate reservation in NLU Odisha for the domicile candidates(25%) and seperate cuts for UR, SC's. Your domicile and SEBC rank is also very competitive which increases your chances for getting into NLU Odisha. You must focus on the counseling rounds and seat allotments, to be made later.

Here is CLAT college predictor by Careers360 that you can use.

i have air general rank 26k sebc odisha rank 30 general odisha domicile rank 336 do i have any chance in nlu odisha?

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 25th Dec, 2025

With an AIR around 26,000, admission through the All India General or SEBC (OBC) category is unfortunately not possible, as NLU Odisha usually closes at a much lower AIR even for reserved categories.

However, the Odisha domicile rank is the key factor in your case. NLU Odisha has a state domicile quota, and admissions under this quota generally go much deeper in rank compared to the All India quota. Still, even under the Odisha domicile category, the closing ranks for General and SEBC candidates usually remain within a few hundred state ranks, especially after multiple rounds.

With a General Odisha domicile rank of 336, your chances are quite low in the regular counselling rounds. In most previous years, seats under the Odisha domicile quota (both General and OBC/SEBC) tend to close earlier than this. That said, a very slim chance may exist only in later rounds or vacancy rounds, if:

  • Some candidates withdraw after allotment

  • There are seat conversions between categories

  • The counselling reaches extended vacancy rounds

It is important to understand that vacancy rounds are unpredictable and cannot be relied upon as a sure option.

What you should do now:

  • Still include NLU Odisha in your preference list if counselling allows, as domicile benefit works only if you opt for it.

  • Also apply to private law universities and state universities offering 5-year or 3-year LLB programmes as safer backup options.

  • Keep checking the vacancy round notifications on the CLAT consortium website if you are serious about NLU Odisha.

To summarise, with your current ranks, getting NLU Odisha is difficult and uncertain, but attempting through domicile quota in later rounds is the only possible route. You should definitely keep alternative colleges ready to avoid losing a year.

It has strong job demand in India and abroad, with chances to grow through experience and higher studies.
The tough part is that duty can be hectic with night shifts and emotional situations, so you need patience and strength.

Rahul Mandal 25th Dec, 2025

Hello,
To get a JoSAA fee refund, you must withdraw online through the JoSAA portal before the final round deadline, which results in a refund of your Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) after deducting a processing fee (around INR 7000), while the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) is handled by the college and non-refundable via JoSAA.

I hope it will clear your query!!

I am from NC OBC Category with 85.77%ile with a 9/9/8 profile Ive completed my graduation in Horticulture stream. Do i have any chance of getting calls from IIMA FABM or IIML ABM

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 25th Dec, 2025

With an NC-OBC category, 85.77 percentile in CAT, a strong 9/9/8 academic profile, and a graduation background in Horticulture, you do have some chances, but they differ significantly between IIM Ahmedabad FABM and IIM Lucknow ABM.

For IIM Ahmedabad – FABM, the institute usually has a very high CAT percentile requirement, even for reserved categories. In recent admission cycles, NC-OBC candidates shortlisted for FABM typically had CAT percentiles closer to 88–92+, along with strong sectionals. Although your academic profile and relevant horticulture background are definite positives, a CAT percentile of 85.77 is on the lower side for IIM Ahmedabad’s FABM shortlisting. Therefore, getting a call from IIMA FABM at this percentile is unlikely, unless there is an exceptionally favorable normalization or sectional performance and cutoffs drop unexpectedly.

On the other hand, IIM Lucknow – ABM is more achievable for your profile. IIM Lucknow gives significant weightage to academic consistency, relevant agricultural background, and category reservation. For NC-OBC candidates, ABM shortlists have historically gone slightly lower than flagship PGP cutoffs, especially for candidates from agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and allied sciences. With 85.77 percentile, a 9/9/8 profile, and a core horticulture degree, you stand a reasonable chance of getting a call from IIM Lucknow ABM, provided you meet sectional cutoffs.

If you do get shortlisted for IIM Lucknow ABM, your final selection will depend heavily on the PI, academic relevance, work exposure (if any), and clarity of career goals in the agri-business domain. Candidates with strong domain understanding often convert ABM calls even at relatively lower CAT percentiles compared to general MBA programs.

In summary, IIM Ahmedabad FABM is unlikely at 85.77 percentile, but IIM Lucknow ABM is a realistic possibility for you as an NC-OBC candidate with a horticulture background. You should also consider applying to other ABM programs like IIM Kashipur (ABM), IIM Sambalpur (ABM), and other agri-focused management institutes, where your profile would be competitively strong.
