Station House Officer (S.H.O) is the head of Police Thana/ Station.
Whoever is the Senior Inspector Rank Officer, is promoted to this post, based on his seniority + clean record + fitness. Around 5-10 SI can come under an S.H.O.
It’s a promotional post and not a direct post. You would first be appointed as an SI (Sub Inspector) and then after some duration you will be promoted to SHO.
Hence you must focus on the following requirements of becoming an SI:
Qualification: Graduate degree from a recognized university.
Age : 21- 28 years
5years relaxation to all reserved categories, except OBC. For OBC, it is 3 years.
Physical Criteria :
Male Height: 5 ft. 4 inch
Female Height: Min 5 ft.
No disease, strong eyesight.
Exam is conducted in 2 phases:
Phase 1- Written à Physical Standard Test à Physical Endurance Test
Phase 2- Written à Interview
Merit list is out, if your name appears, then documentation and selection.
Subjects in Phase 1 Written exam (has negative marking):
General Intelligence and Reasoning
General Awareness
Quantitative Aptitude
English
Requirement in PST: The physical criteria mentioned above is checked.
Requirement in PET: There is a 100m race conducted and hurdles like long jump, high jump for both men and women. There is an extra hurdle to be cleared by men which is Shotput.
Subjects in Phase 2 Written exam:
200 marks English paper is conducted.
Merit list is prepared by adding both the written exam results. Physical test marks are only qualifying in nature.
