Can anyone please give me a study tips for LLM?
Hi.
Here are a few tips that can aid your progress for LLM Program:
1) Set Your Goals
It’s worth taking some time to identify some goals for your LL.M. study. These might be the ones you described in your application documents. But they could also be more personal.
2) Change your mind
Grad school requires an entirely different mindset from undergrad school. Not only is the workload greater, there are higher expectations
3) Connect with your peers to grow as a person and get academic aid if needed
Networking opportunities are one of the biggest benefits to undertaking an LL.M. program. And they’re something you can get started on before your program even begins.
Some schools will have community tools – such as Facebook groups or online systems – that they use to help students get connected.
3) Expand your learning materials
Studying an LLM will undoubtedly be a busy year but try to find the time to attend one or two conferences or events featuring speakers in your field. The practical, real-world learnings will complement and enhance your academic ability
4) Read more and make it your interest
If your program provides a reading list in advance, then a really easy way to get ahead on your study workload is to read some of the texts over the summer.
5) Stay Self Motivated. Do not seek approval from others for your study and your pace of learning. Do not forget, physical exercises are crucial they have a neurological impact which can help you grow in your studies and manage any stress and keep your mind and body healthy.
BEST OF LUCK
Hi student!
Do all of the reading assigned for your courses. Do not fall behind; Do understand what you read. You need to do your reading at times of the day when you are most alert and at a place where you are not distracted.
if you are too unfocused, Study groups can be useful for you by providing social support, positive peer pressure, explaining out loud concepts and rules, etc.
The most important things you can do is to do the reading and outline continuously your classes. understand the issues, understand the concepts. Memorizing can help in some instances but in the end this is how you think and how you understand the law
The best way to cope up with the intense pressure is by establishing a routine and sticking to it.
If you are new to LLB then you can read the following books :
- Oliver Wendell Holmes: The Common Law
-
Ward Farnsworth: The Legal Analyst: A Toolkit for Thinking about the Law
Barry Friedman: Open Book: Succeeding on Exams from the First Day of Law School - Frederick Schauer: Thinking Like a Lawyer: A New Introduction to Legal Reasoning
- History of American law: Lawrence Friedman: A History of American Law, Steven Teles: The Rise of the Conservative Legal Movement
- Property law, finance: Michael Lewis : The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine
Hope this helps!
Thank you!
