Hello Arohi. Both the techniques of Seiving as well as Filtration are completely different. Seiving is seperating a mixture based upon its particle size. Like for example there are stones of different sizes but all are stones. Seiving lets the smaller stone get through the seive or mesh while as the bigger stones stay above the seive. Its just an example don't take reference. While as if we talk about filtration it means seperation of solid from a liquid because of insolubility of a solid in a liquid. We use a filtration paper for this. The liquid passes through the filter paper while as the solid remains as a residue. For example we take a mixture of salt+water+pebbles, the water plus salt solution will pass through the paper because salt is soluble in water while as the pebbles will stay as a residue because pebbles are not soluble in water.
