In order to take admission in NITs you have to appear for JEE Main exam and seats are allotted through JOSSA counselling.
You should have 75% marks in your board exam or you should be in top 20 percentile to get admission in NITs.

Admission into the various National Institutes of Technology (NITs) is based on the entrance exam named Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.
Once you get your rank, based on that rank and cutoff in different NIT's you get shortlisted.
