To become a Brigadier in Army you need a lot of time to get promoted to the rank of Brigadier as the only entry point for Officer in the Indian army is at the rank of Lieutenant, through NDA OR CDS.
You will require minimum of 23 years of service to get promoted to a Brigadier and it is very less probable to get promoted post colonel as most officer retire on or before this rank.
After your commissioning as lieutenant the promotion is as follows
Lt. (On completion of training)
Capt. 2 years of reckonable commissioned service
Major 6 years of reckonable commissioned service
Lt. Col. 13 years of reckonable commissioned service
Col (TS) 26 years of reckonable commissioned service
