Following are the useful tips that you can follow for your jee mains 2018 physics preparation:
1. Mechanics is one topic of Physics that is considered less scoring by most experts. However to add to the dilemma this is also the topic that forms the major portion of the JEE (Main) in terms of marks. So this topic cannot be neglected.
2. One must also try to concentrate on other scoring topics to ensure a better performance, for example Optics, Electricity and Magnetism, etc.
3. Kinematics and Particle dynamics are very important topics of Mechanics that make regular appearance in the jee mains papers.
4.Refer to past years jee mains papers, and sample test papers to understand what to expect in the exam when you have started solving advanced level problems.
5. According to the general trends, Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism are the most important topics in terms of the number of questions asked in jee mains exam of previous years.
6. In the decreasing order of the marks they carry are listed different topics of Physics according to their appearance in previous years papers.
Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism (Equal importance)
Modern Physics
Optics
Heat and Thermodynamics and Waves and Sound
Measurement and errors
7. Thermodynamics is important from the terms of both Physics and Chemistry so concentrate on that as well. It is wise to cover Wave Optics first in Optics topic. The reason is that the portion is smaller compared to Ray Optics thus quick to cover.
8. As it has already been discussed that Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism are the most important topics of Physics, it must be kept in mind to have a clear understanding of the basic concepts of these chapters. Vector is one concept that students very commonly encounter in dealing with any of these topics, so effort must be taken to understand it properly.
Good luck:)

Dear Rajinder,
You can first go through the syllabus and also an analysis of the questions that have been asked. I am presuming that you are talking about the JEE Main entrance exam, If it is for any other exam, then also please tell us.
Having said that, after going through the syllabus will give you an idea as to which topics are given more weightage and which are given less. I am hoping that you have already finished your syllabus at least once.
Divide your revision for Physics into three parts-Most Important Topics, Important Topics and Less Important Topics. Revise thoroughly according to these parameters. Do not leave anything. Make sure that you are able to finish this revision in the first two months itself and then keep the last month for the final revision. In these two months ensure that you cover all the topics and do not leave anything.
Even though there might be topics from which less number of questions have been asked in the past, but I would still suggest that you do not take it lightly since it is a competetive exam. The more thorough you were with all the topics, the chances of your getting a better rank increase in the exam.
