I have 71 percent in board exam can I get admission in nit if I score 200+ marks in jee 2018
Since, your score is 71percent, we suggest you to take improvement exam and give any two subjects where you scored low, so you can now score well with Preparation and increase your aggregated score to 75 percent and above.
There is no need to appear for all 5 subjects as per new notification.

I would further suggest that you can take up imporvement only in those subjects in which you scored less in class 12. This way, you may cover up for the percentage deficit that you have for NIT admissions.
See the eligibility for admissions to NITs is 75% in class XII. However you may have a chance at the NIT in your home state which will be the state where you did your class 11 & 12. In such a case, students who have 75% or are in the top 20 percentile of their boards will be eligible for admissions. As for JEE Main marks, it is a fair chance but this cannot be predicted. I suggest that you check the various rank predictors that will be available once JEE Main is over and you will know a good estimate. You can also check past data (https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-result-marks-vs-rank) and check with the cutoffs of previous years to get a good idea. -https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff
No, you are not eligible to get admission in NITs if you have score less then 75% marks in your baords exam or you are not in top 20 percentile for general category and for SC/ST it is 65% marks
To be eligible for NITs you can appear for improvement exam.
Good Luck!!
