I know about the requirements for giving the AIIMS exam. One of them is getting concepts crystal clear but for practicing
AIIMS requires concepts, that’s all. Your concepts should be crystal clear, then physics will seem moderate. Don’t clear your concepts, physics will be a nightmare.
During my preparation, I first completed HC Verma, including all solved examples, all exercises(50–60 of those).
To see how you should read HCV( as I did) Ajitanshu Singh Parihar's answer to Is H.C. Verma enough for JEE Advanced? Also, only doing HCV will not suffice. HCV is like a guide who will teach you how to solve any problem, which you have never ever seen in your life. Its like a golden formula which lets you solve any question in the world.
In AIIMS, 10–15 questions are present in the exam each year which are of the above category. However, there are some easy-peasy ones which everyone is able to do. The thing is, you will have to save time in the easy ones in order to do the tough ones, since they will take more time. This is where reference books like DC Pandey and previous years’ questions come in. They will have definitely lesser amount of innovative and conceptual questions like the ones they ask in AIIMS, but they will have all the questions which have been asked in 10–15 years’. Do them. They will help you breeze through the easy part and come back to the tough part with enough time in hands.
Another thing is, in PMTs whether they be AIIMS, JIPMER, NEET, questions are repeated, maybe not 10, but definitely 2–3 questions. You can always expect this much to be repeated. Therefore, if you are well versed with the common type of questions that are usually asked, and have practiced them a lot of times, you can do them in 30–45 seconds and devote the extra time to tough ones. Remember, I am not telling you to remember the answers of questions, that would be like a suicide, what I am telling you is practice them well.
Also, please don’t try to memorise formulas. Try to remember they way they have been derived. AIIMS usually asks questions which are based on the intermediate formulas got during derivation, not necessarily the end results. If you practice derivations many times, you will be able to remember the steps. Please don’t memorise the steps, try to understand what is happening, it will come easier that way, and will be beneficial in the long run.
