I want to become an IAS officer , iam just giving 12 exam , what should I do
You need to complete your graduation first.
Start reading newspapers and watching news channels as it will help your base.
You can choose BA as your subject now which will help in your further preparations.
Any degree or graduation/post-graduation in any subject is alright. For higher education, one should always pursue the subject which one finds interesting and is comfortable with. Academic career and interest should not be compromised for an uncertain and highly competitive career in civil service.
You can follow unacademy channel on YouTube.
Cheers !!
Dear Hariom,
First and foremost you need to complete your graduation to be eligible to appear for the entrance exam. Even if you are in your final year of graduation, then also you can appear for the entrance exam.
In order to become an IAS officer, the UPSC conducts the exam which is divided into three parts. First, you have to clear the prelims, then the main exam and then the interview. If you have scored a good rank and depening on the choice that you have made, accordingly you will be awarded the services which are IAS, IPS, IFS and other services. The application form is normally available from February onwards and prelims are generally held in last week of May or First week of June.
Now comes the preparation part. First and foremost go through the syllabus, exam pattern and question papers of the past years for the civil services exams.
Collect the right study material and the books from where you have to study. Choose your optional. Since you are still in your class 12, you have plenty of time in hand to prepare well and come out in flying colours. Keep yourself updated with current affairs, policy decisions of the government and the important announcements pertaining to appointments that are made. Be very thorough with your NCERT books of class XII, XI, X, IX, VIII. Make your own handwritten notes. Preparing for prelims is an ongoing process and then prepare for your mains. The preparation should be simultaneously done. By end of second year of graduation, you should be all set and third year should be for revision and taking mock tests at the earliest so that you can assess yourself.
The most important thing is that study from right books and right study material. You should not do research. It has to be focused preparation. The other thing is try to make your own notes.
If you need any other help, please feel free to ask.
Firstly you have to graduate in any particular course, start preparing for civil services from its initials. Give much time to your studies, start reading news papers and current affairs and history as well.
Thanks!
