is critical care and trauma care different
Hello aspirant,
Critical care - also known as Intensive Care (ICU) – is a multi-disciplinary healthcare team looking after people with life-threatening conditions. Critical care units are areas within the hospital which are specially staffed, equipped and designed to closely monitor and treat patients with life-threatening conditions.
Trauma care- This involves the provision of appropriate care at a medical establishment to road crash victims with major and minor injuries. Minor injury: Injuries are treated by the patients themselves, a general practitioner or the accident and emergency department.
Thankyou
Greetings, aspirant!
Critical care is given to patients that have suffered from some kind of a mishap or accident that involves immediately life threatening situations such as loss of blood, internal infections, accidents, gunshots, stab wounds etc.
Trauma care is given to patients in trauma centers. The victims of severe trauma are usually accident victims as opposed to a direct medical condition.
The difference between these terms is very different and often they are used interchangeably. But it can be said that trauma care is a sort of subset of critical care.
Hope this information helps
Best of luck!
