Thank you..
As your aggregate class 12th board exam marks is above 75% marks then definitely you are eligible for admission in NITs(general category).
Good luck.
You require a total percentage of 75% in your respective 12th exams. If you belong to the sc/St category then you require a percentage of 65%. Individual subject will not decide anything.
Regards
The required board percentage for NIT and other top government college is 75 percent.. so it doesnt matter if you have low marks in one subject. Your aggregate should be more than 75%. So you are eligible.
Hope this solves your query.
Good Luck!!
Eligibility criteria for admissions to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs has been revised with the MHRD announcing 20 percentile cut-off marks or minimum 75 per cent marks in class XII as the new norm for entry to the institutes of national importance.
The new eligibility criterion for admissions to NITs , IIITs and CFTIs has been announced after MHRD eliminated 40 per cent weightage to class XII board marks in preparing JEE Main Rank List. Till 2016, the JEE Main Rank List would be prepared basis 60 weightage to JEE Main performance and 40 per cent weightage to class XII board marks. Further, the admissions to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs were made on the basis of JEE Main Rank List only. Aspirants from general category only needed 45 per cent marks in each of the subjects in class XII to qualify for admission to these institutes.
According to an official notification by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), apart from admissions to IITs, the qualifying marks for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs have also been revised . As per the notification, For candidates to qualify for admissions to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.
Till 2016-17 admission year, only IITs had this qualifying criteria of 75 per cent marks (General Category) in class XII or top 20 percentile cut-off. Accordingly, class 12 th board marks cut-off for SC/ST and PwD candidates was 70 per cent. However, as per the announcement by MHRD, the revised criteria of 75% marks (Gen Category), 65% (SC/ST/PwD Category) or being in the top 20 percentile in class XII is likely to be applicable for admissions to all NITs/IIITs/GFTIs along with IITs from the admission year 2017-18 onwards.
