These are the available information related to distance education for Statistics in India.
Wisdom School of Management offers a three-year B.Sc. degree in Statistics through Distance/Correspondence. You can apply directly to the college for admission.
Osmania University, Hyderabad and Acharya Nagarjuna university offer distance education program in Msc Statistics. The course curriculum here is well designed and highly reputed but the assignments and the Exams are to be given at their study centres which are located in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh only. If it is suitable for you to appear in their study centres, it can be a good option.
IGNOU is one of the best Universities offering distance education in India. IGNOU offers another program Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics (PGDAST) given by the School of Sciences. The eligibility criteria for this course is graduation in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Its a one year program but it is not equal to MSc.
IGNOU also has a Mathematics with Applications in Computer Science program(MACS) which is a combination of Maths, Statistics and Computer science and is equivalent to Msc as it is of 2 years duration. Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics (PHDSTAT) is also offered by IGNOU which is a two-year distance programme for a doctoral degree in Statistics.
ISI(Indian Statistical Institute) and IITs(like Bombay, Kanpur, Kharagpur) are the best institutes offering programmes for Statistics in India though they don’t provide distance education. Universities like Calcutta University, Presidency University, Banaras Hindu University, Delhi University, Hyderabad University etc are academically good as well.
You may also go for more corporate-oriented institutes like Loyola College Chennai, NMIMS Mumbai and Symbiosis Statistical Institute (SSI). Location-wise favourable as these are located in metro cities like Pune, Mumbai and Chennai so you can expect good exposure and placements.
