Oral pathology has scope or not pls nyone guide plzzz...
Dear Dr. Anwesha Biswas,
Over 300 standalone Dental Colleges in India, apart from a number of Medical Colleges offer oral pathology as a specialisation, though the number of seats may be limited, as compared to BDS. There is a general feeling that India produces more dental specialists than required as the number of patients who rush to a doctor are less than compared to the number of patients that see general medical practitioners.
So, the scope for job growth may not appear very rosy now. However, with an increased focus on opening up of medical education sector, the scope for employment as teachers appears to be on the upswing. The recent amendments made to the Post-Graduate Medical Regulations 2000 make it mandatory for all existing medical colleges to offer PG courses from the academic year 2020-21. This is applicable to all the existing medical colleges, both in public and private sector and the newly opening medical colleges.
So, if you equip yourself with the academic requirements to become a lecturer or a professor, the scope appears bright.
Best of luck!
