CLAT Syllabus 2019 for Undergraduate law programmes
General Knowledge & Current Affairs - This section will include questions from general awareness including static GK. Apart from GK, questions will also cover the recent topics and current affairs from the previous year.
English (with Comprehension) – In this sections candidates will be given questions of English Comprehension. Candidates will also be tested on Grammer, Vocabulary and Fill in the blanks.
Legal Aptitude – This section will test the candidates interest of studying law, legal terms and problem-solving abilities. Moreover, there will also be some legal proposition and candidates will be required to assume out of the set of facts given.
Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability) – This section will have mathematics from Class 10th and won’t be too difficult.
Logical reasoning – This section will have questions related to syllogism, blood relations, identifying patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments.
CLAT 2019 Syllabus for Postgraduate law programmes
Jurisprudence – It is the theoretical study of law studied to gain a deeper understanding of legal systems, legal reasoning, legal institutions and their role in the society.
Law of Torts – It is a new common law development supplemented by codifying statutes including statutes governing damages.
Criminal Law – It is a body which deals with crimes. It includes threatening, harmful, or otherwise endangering to the property, health, safety, and moral welfare of people inclusive of one's self.
Family Law - This section will include questions related to marriage, domestic partnership, adoption, paternity, child custody, surrogacy, and juvenile law.
International Law – It is the set of rules generally regarded and accepted as binding in relations between states and between nations. It serves as a framework for the practice of stable and organized international relations.
Property Law - Property law is the area of law that governs the various forms of ownership and tenancy in real property and in personal property, within the common law legal system.
Intellectual Property Law – It deals with the rules for securing and enforcing legal rights to inventions, designs, and artistic works. Just as the law protects ownership of personal property and real estate, so too does it protect the exclusive control of intangible assets.
Law of Contracts - A contract is an agreement between two or more parties to perform a service, provide a product or commit to an act and is enforceable by law. There are several types of contracts, and each has specific terms and conditions. The law governing the same can be defined as the law of contracts.
