What is the work of maths in Civil Engineer field?
Dear Anuj,
First of all no science is complete in itself. All forms of science are inter-related and mathematics is one of the pillars on which all scientific equations are based.
Civil engineering uses a number of mathematical tools to solve problems relating to building a structure, which can be a single-story house to a 100-storey skyscraper. Similarly, to build a dam or a tunnel, a civil engineer will have to analyse fluid mechanics, or solid mechanics using various mathematical tools like trigonometry, calculus, algebra and geometry. Moreover, each and every component of a structure like beams and their ability to handle stress will need mathematical inputs to arrive at a decision. Even in rather simple functions like measuring the area of a plot or distance, a civil engineer will have to resort to trigonometry.
I have tried to put it across in simple manner. Hope it satisfies your query.
