Which of the four resistance p= 2ohm, Q=4ohm, R=1ohm, s=2ohm, generate the greatest amount of heat when a current flows from A to B?
Hello,
In this question two cases can be made-
- If the resistors are in series then by formula H=I×I×R the resistor with highest resistance will produce the highest amount of heat. We use this formula because current is for each resistor but voltage is not. So Q will produce highest heat.
- If the resistor are in parallel then by formula H=V×V/R the resistor with lowest resistance will produce the highest amount of heat. In this case the resistance will be R.
