    Admission to the Post-Graduate programme is based on the candidate’s
    performance at a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) conducted for the
    purpose.

    Admission based on All India Common Entrance Examination (CET).

    Eligibility Criteria

    The candidate must have an LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of:

    (i) Fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD categories, and

    (ii) Forty five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

    The candidate will have to appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to secure admission into the postgraduate programme.

    Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in the year of admission are also permitted to take the Admission Test, but their admission to the course shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the Regulations, and producing supporting documentary evidence at the time of admission.

    There is no upper age limit for the PG programme in CLAT.

    There is no provision for direct admission of Foreign Nationals into the postgraduate course.

    • First class (or equivalent ) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L. (5 years) program from any recognised University, or
    • First Class (or equivalent) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L.(3 years) program from any recognised University along with Bachelor's Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities/ Science/ Commerce or equivalent.
    • Students having LL.B (Hons.) in Intellectual Porperty Law from the IIT Kharagpur with CGPA of 8.5 or above are eligible for admission without appearing in the All India Common Entrance Examination (CET).
    • The requisite qualifying marks for admission to postgraduate and research programmes of the Institute are CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale or 60% marks for GE/OBC candidates (these are CGPA 6.0 and 55% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates). The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree awarding institute provides marks in CGPA system. Their admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10.0, the eligibility of the candidate will be calculated corresponding to the equivalence stated above.
