Admissions to the first semester of all Undergraduate courses are made on the basis of seats allocated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from the list of candidates selected by all India JEE (Main). Besides, a specified number of foreign nationals/NRIs selected under the policy laid down by Govt. of India, are admitted directly to the 1st year of the courses.

1. Admission to all disciplines will be made in the Autumn Semester of each session at the First Year level through JEE (Main), the counseling for which is done by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) [The acronym JEE {Joint Entrance Examination} in this document shall mean JEE(Main) or any other equivalent examination relevant to the context]. There shall be no opportunity for a change of branch mid-way during the programme.

2. Besides the successful JEE candidates, a specified number of foreign nationals selected under the policy laid down by the Government of India may be admitted directly to the 1st year of any of the programmes covered by these regulations. At present foreign nationals selected under DASA.

• The minimum academic qualification for admission is "pass" in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English, having secured pass marks based on Criteria defined by JoSAA in each subject.
• The candidate must be in good mental and physical health and should satisfy the standard physical fitness criteria of the Institute (to be examined and certified by the Medical Officer of the Institute).

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Informatics Practices/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
