a. Selection/admission will be made purely on a merit basis 

b. Merit list will be prepared category-wise, as per marks obtained in the entrance exam. 

c. If two or more applicants have the same marks in the entrance test, preference will be given to the applicant with higher educational qualifications. 

d. If two or more applicants have the same marks in the entrance test with the same educational qualification then preference will be given to the applicant with a higher percentage of marks in that degree (educational qualification). 

e. If any selected candidate does not take admission within the stipulated time, then admission will be given to the candidate next-in-line, as per the merit list.

Only those candidates would be eligible for admissions who have secured a minimum of 50% in the aggregate in their Graduation/Post Graduation examinations from any recognized university. [Relaxation would be granted to SC/ST candidates who produce the relevant certificates). Working knowledge of English is essential. Applicants coming from Universities other than Sikkim University need to submit their Migration Certificates preferably at the time of their admissions or latest by the end of July.

Minimum Educational Qualification should be Graduate/Post-graduate (B.A/B.Com/B.Sc.) from a college/university recognized by UGC

a. Minimum 50% marks (for General category)

b. Minimum 47% marks (for OBC category)

c. Minimum 45% marks (for SC/ST category)

d. In-service Candidates (should be working as Primary, Graduate, or Post Graduate teachers on a  regular basis in Govt. schools of the state)

(Candidate must have studied school teaching subject at the Graduation/Post Graduation level. Candidate with vocational subject/IT/other technical courses will not be eligible for admission to B.Ed Course)
