The Government of Tamil Nadu admits students to B.E./B.Tech. courses in affiliated colleges through a common merit list prepared by Anna University, Chennai.  

The Candidate Passed the 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, or Business Studies. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to the reserved category) in the above subjects taken together. OR Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category), subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.

A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry is put together as given below. A Pass with Minimum average marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together General Category 50%, BC & BCM at 45%, MBC & DNC 40%, SC/SCA/ST 40%.
