Admission to the college is governed by the guidelines of BPUT. All students who have passed +2 Science with Mathematics & Physics as core papers are eligible to appear in Joint Entrance Test (JEE). Qualified students are called to the counseling center of the University. As per the choice given by the students and the availability of seats in the college the students are asked to admit themselves to the University by paying part of the fees.

• For admission into the 1st year B.Tech program, a student has to appear for JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE-MAIN) conducted by CBSE either through offline Examination or through online examination.
• Lateral entry into B. Tech admission is based on the central counseling procedure conducted by Odisha JEE for Odisha JEE rank holders, especially for lateral entry students.

All students who have passed +2 science with Mathematics and physics as core papers are eligible.

Admission Policy for Lateral Entry: The institute can take students in this category maximum to an extent of 20% of the total capacity subject top 60% marks in the diploma in engineering examination. The students will have to qualify in JEE and get admission in 2nd year straightway.

Reservation: As per the state government legislation during counseling, there is a reservation of 30% for girl students, 2% for green card holders, and 15% for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. BPUT considers these guidelines during the counseling of the students. However, it does not count for the institute seats available for all reserved categories during the time of admission.

• The completion of +2 Science with Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/ Computer Science with a minimum of 45% of aggregate marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry /Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science is a must.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

• A candidate Should Pass a three-year diploma examination (two years in case of Lateral entry Diploma) in Engineering /Technology from the State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (SCTE&VT). Lower age 14 Years and no bar for upper age with a valid OJEE Rank.
• Passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination of three years duration in Science from the University of Odisha or from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) and must have passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject with a Valid OJEE Rank.
• The natives of Odisha, as well as the outside state candidates, are eligible for admission under Lateral Entry through centralized counseling conducted by the OJEE. Results of the final Diploma examination must be available on the date of document verification during counseling.
