Admission is made based on the merit rank obtained in the common entrance examination (CEEP) and the rules of the reservation stipulated by the government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time.

The candidates seeking admission should have appeared for the X class examination, conducted by the board of secondary examination, Andhra Pradesh, or the equivalent examination thereto, at the time of marking applied to the common entrance examination for polytechnics(CEEP).In case candidates apply pending results of their qualifying examinations, their selection shall be subject to the production of proof of their passing the qualifying examination in one attempt or compartmentally at the time of interview for admission.

The candidates who pass X Standard or equivalent examinations with Mathematics and Science subjects are eligible for admission into Polytechnic Colleges, whereas candidates who pass XII Standard or ITI examinations only are eligible for Direct Second Year Admission (Lateral Entry).
