The Admissions to the Institute are made along with the other Engineering colleges in the state through a common entrance test (EAMCET) conducted by the Govt. of Telangana.

• The Government of Telangana conducts the Common Entrance Test (TGEAPCET) for admission into various professional courses. The TGEAPCET is generally conducted during May and the notification will appear in all leading newspapers in the month of March.KITSW is being in the list of top most engineering colleges in Telangana.
• A merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance in XII std. and TGEAPCET.
• Admissions are made according to merit, subject to reservations to various categories.

The students seeking admission to SWEC have to qualify in the EAMCET ( Engineering, Agricultural, and Medical Common Entrance Test ) examination conducted by Govt. of Telangana. To be eligible for appearing in the EAMCET examination, the student should have passed the 10 + 2 with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as their mainstream.

Lateral entry scheme :

• In addition, diploma holders are admitted into second-year B.Tech to the extent of 10% intake based on merit in ECET, under the lateral entry scheme.

The candidate shall have passed the XII standard or equivalent examination and shall have secured not less than 45% in the aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. However, in the case of SC/ST and other backward classes, the eligibility shall be 40% in the aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
