Admissions to the Government Quota are handled by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. Students who would like to join CIMAT in the government quota will have to take the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University, Chennai.

Candidates will be shortlisted for GD-PI-WAT(Written Ability Test) based on the admission test scores, prior academic performance and relevant work experience. At the time of the Personal Interview, written, verbal and analytical abilities of the candidates would also be examined. The final selection of candidates for admission will be based on composite factors such as admission test scores, previous academic record, relevant work experience and performance in the personal interview, Group Discussion and WAT.

Admission Test: Test scores in CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/GMAT/ATMA taken in May or later.

A bachelor’s degree in Arts / Commerce / Science (3 years program) or Engineering / Technology (4 years program) Dental / Medicine (5 years)awarded by any recognized Indian University / AICTE with at least 50% (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying Examination is eligible for the MBA program as per the regulations of Bharathiar University.

• Graduate in any UGC-recognized program with a minimum of 60%.
• Valid scores from CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, GMAT, ATMA, or TANCET (taken from May 2025).
• Final-year students graduating by May 2026 are also eligible.
