Selection of the candidates is based on the merit of the Entrance Examination held by the University or Competent Authority. Admissions are done through Registrar office Pondicherry Institute of  Medical  Sciences, Puducherry.

Admission is done through SRMJEEH (UG) Entrance examination, subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying examination as well.

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of:

• Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12years course).
  Or
• Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degree Examination (10+2).
  Or
• An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science, Physics, Chemistry & Biology/ Botany & Zoology) with minimum 45% (40% marks for SC, ST, MBC, OBC candidates) aggregate marks and English as a subject.

3. A candidate shall be medically fit.

• Candidates belonging to all Categories for admission to the B.Sc. degree course Nursing should have passed at the qualifying examinations (academic stream) Higher secondary examination with equivalent qualification with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany, Zoology and English with aggregate marks 45%(PCBE)as per Indian Nursing Council(INC).
• The curriculum and the syllabi for the course shall be as prescribed by the Academic Council from time to time based on INC regulations.
