Admissions are done on the basis of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science entrance test (HITSEEE).

Admission to General Category: The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics -100, Physics + Chemistry - 100) in the qualifying examination and TNEA Counselling.

1. A Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology Technical Vocational subject. Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together with minimum 60% in Mathematics.

2. Any other examination of any university or authority accepted by this University as equivalent of plus two.

3. Cambridge norms (General Certificate of Education – GCE). The candidates intending to join first year E & T courses should have studied General Certificate of Education (GCE), Cambridge International Examinations. And required to have obtained ‘Advanced Level passes in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics and English at AS level.

1. Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII Std. in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply

2.  Children of Central Government Employees may also apply for admission, irrespective of their native, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of submission of application, which should be supported by enclosing a certificate from the employer of the parent or guardian, to that effect

3.  Sons and daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre Officers, otherwise not native to Tamil Nadu, are eligible

4. Children of Employees in the Public Sector or government-recognized Institutions who, at the time of submission of the application for admission employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years may also apply, irrespective of their domicile
5. A certificate from the employer has to be enclosed along with the application stating that the person is a Permanent Employee of the Firm or Institution concerned with evidence like Income Tax return, PF Slips, etc., and is working in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past FIVE YEARS.

6. Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII Std. or their equivalent examination from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply

Qualifying Examinations & Eligibility

A pass in the HSC (Academic) or its equivalent with a minimum average percentage in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, put together as given below:

General Category: 50%; BC (including Backward Class Muslim): 45%; MBC & DNC: 40%; SC/SCA/ST: 40%

Vocational Subject: A pass in any one of the HSC (Vocational Subject) as given below, with any one of the Engineering-related subjects, namely Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry, with a minimum average percentage put together as given below:

General Category: 50%; BC (including Backward Class Muslim): 45%; MBC & DNC: 40%; SC/SCA/ST: 40%

Lateral Entry

Diploma Holders:

A pass with prescribed minimum eligibility marks in any one of the Diplomas in an appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology of the State Board of Technical Education and Training. Tamil Nadu equivalent prescribed for the Degree Courses.

B.Sc. Graduates:

A pass with prescribed minimum eligibility marks in any recognized bachelor's Degree in Science of minimum 3 years duration with 10+2+3 years pattern and studied core Mathematics as one of the subjects at the Degree level.
