Admissions Procedure

• The admission procedure shall be off-campus online in the following manner, namely
• The Admission Committee shall prepare a merit list of the eligible candidates as per the prevailing Rules, after verification of the documents submitted.
• The merit lists shall be displayed on the website of the Admission Committee and by such other means as the Committee may consider convenient.
• The Admission Committee shall publish the schedule of the online counseling program on its website, by advertisement in the prominent newspapers widely circulated in the State, and by such other means as it may consider convenient.
• The candidate shall be required to indicate their order of choice of courses and colleges or institutions, online. Allotment of seats shall be made based on merit, the category of the candidate, and the availability of seats. The allotment of seats shall be published on the website of the Committee. The candidates are required to obtain the printout of the Information letter and bank fee receipt copies from the website.

• For admission, a candidate shall have passed the Qualifying Examination (10+2) with minimum eligibility criteria of the percentage of marks in subjects as follows:(i) Minimum 45% in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Computer (Theory + Practical) for OPEN category students. (ii) For the SEBC, SC & ST students minimum of 40%.(iii) Have appeared in the GUJCET conducted in the corresponding academic year.
• A candidate whose parents are of Gujarat origin and are serving out of Gujarat in the service of the Central Government or other State Government, Armed Forces, Boards or Corporations owned or controlled by the Central Government or other State Government or any nationalized bank and who has passed the qualifying examination from the State where parents are serving and has appeared in the GUJCET conducted in the corresponding academic year, shall be eligible for admission.
• A candidate who has passed the Qualifying Examination from any other State and, -(i) has appeared in GUJCET conducted in the corresponding academic year; and(ii) whose parents are serving in the category of services as shown below and who are transferred from other States to Gujarat and have resumed their duties in the place where they are transferred in Gujarat and shall remain so transferred in the State of Gujarat at the time of registration for admission, shall be eligible for admission and his candidature shall be included in the merit list.

No Candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the Medical Curriculum of the first Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Course until:

1. He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS course.

2. The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council for Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on education.

OR

3. The intermediate examination in science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects, and also English as a compulsory subject.

OR

4. The pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination or the pre-university or an equivalent examination. The pre-professional/pre-medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also English as a compulsory subject

OR

5. The first year of the three-year degree course of a recognized university, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, including a practical test in three subjects, provided the examination is a "University Examination" and the candidate has passed 10+2 with English at a level not less than a core course.

OR

6. B.Sc examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology), and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

OR

7. Any other examination which, in scope and standard, is found to be equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, including a practical test in each of these subjects and English.
