Admission Details
Candidates seeking admission to B. P. Ed Degree course should be below 26 years of age, 28 years age for SC/ST and Cat-I, as on 1St July of the year of admission. The age is relaxable up to 30 years for outstanding sportspersons. Outstanding sports person means a candidate who has participated in recognized Inter-University/Inter-State/Inter-National sports or games competitions. However in case of in-service candidates trained Physical Education Teachers and coaches, the age is relaxed up to 35 years, subject to the condition that, they are medically fit. All candidates shall produce a medical fitness certificate issued by a medical officer of not less than the rank of district surgeon along with the application.
NOTE: Compulsory physical fitness test (N.P.F.P) will be conducted by the college/department at University College of Physical Education ground for the selection of an eligible candidate for B.P. Ed course.
Admission shall be made on merit based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or in the entrance examination or any other selection process as per the policy of the state government/U.T. Administration and the university.
Eligibility Criteria
Any graduate of Bangalore University or of any other University recognized by the Bangalore University as equivalent thereto who is physically fit and satisfies any of the following conditions will be eligible for admission to B. P. Ed. Degree Course.
1) A citizen of India who has passed any Bachelor's degree examination of Bangalore University or any University in India or abroad recognised as equivalent through 10+2+3/4/5 pattern of education, who has obtained 50% of marks in aggregate of all the subjects he/she has studied for the degree, is eligible for admission to B.Ed. programme.
2) The candidate with less than 50% aggregate in the degree, but a Master's Degree with 50% is also eligible for B.Ed. programme.
3) In the case of SC/ST, Category-1 -1 and physically challenged students, 45% marks in aggregate of all the subjects he/she has studied for the degree course or 45% in post-graduation.
4) A candidate for admission to the degree of education (B.Ed.) must fulfil the eligibility criteria as per the directives of the Government of Karnataka from time to time.
