Admission through Direct Counselling based on All India Rank Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE Main OR through JOSAA/CSAB.

Admission to the first year professional courses (Engineering and biology based courses) offered in Government and private colleges in the U.T. of Puducherry is done through Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC), constituted by the Government of Puducherry every academic year.

Lateral Entry- Admission to second year B.Tech. courses in PEC for the diploma holders is done through Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC-LE), constituted by the Government of Puducherry every academic year.

• Candidate applying for admission to B. Tech. program through JOSAA/CSAB  must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB guidelines.
• Candidates applying for admission to B.Tech. program through SMVDU Direct Counselling based on JEE(Main) Rank (CRL). However, the minimum aggregate percentage obtained at 10+2 must be at-least 60% (or equivalent CGPA).

Candidates for admission to the first semester of the 8 semester B.Tech Degree programme should be required to have passed:

The Higher Secondary Examination of the (10+2) curriculum (Academic Stream) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other examination equiv a lent there to with minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for OBC and SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of subjects – Mathematics, Physics and any one of the following optional subjects: Chemistry / Biotechnology/ Computer Science / Biology (Botany & Zoology) or an Examination of any University or Authority recognized by the Executive Council of the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto.

For Lateral entry in to third semester of the eight semester B.Tech programme:

The minimum qualification for admission is a pass in three year diploma or four year sandwich diploma course in engineering / technology with a minimum of 45% marks ( 40% marks for OBC and SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in the subjects covered from 3 rd to final semester or a pass in any B.Sc. course with mathematics as one of the subjects of study in XII standard with a minimum of 45% marks ( 40% marks for OBC and a mere pass for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in main and ancillary subjects excludi ng language subjects. Age Limit: The candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st July of the academic year under consideration. For Lateral Entry admission to second y ear of degree programme, candidates should not have completed 24 years as on 1 s t July of the academic year under consideration. In the case of SC/ST candidates, the age limit is relaxable by 3 years for both the cases.
