For B.E./B.Tech. programmes
i. Physics
ii. Mathematics
iii. Any one of Chemistry, biology, biotechnology, technical vocation subject.
iv. A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher

Generally, tge improvement examinations are conducted to boost a student's marks so that it helps in future. And, you no need to reappear for practical examinations and only the theory examinations are conducted in improvement tests. So, please be patient and stay motivated.

If you are a general category student you do not qualify the eligibility criteria for admissions in any of IIT's/NIT's/GFTI'S.
But you will be able to get a seat if your marks are in top 20 percentile of your respective board in which you have passed your class 12.
To be eligibile to appear for NDA, candidates must have passed class 12 and must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years of age. If you fulfil the eligibility criteria, then you can apply for NDA exam. Check NDA eligibility criteria detail here.
