Common Admission Test
Question : Directions: Select the set in which the numbers are related in the same way as the numbers of the following sets. (NOTE: Operations should be performed on the whole numbers, without breaking down the numbers into their constituent digits. E.g. 13 – operations on 13 such as adding/subtracting/multiplying etc. to 13 can be performed. Breaking down 13 into 1 and 3 and then performing mathematical operations on 1 and 3 is NOT allowed.) (19, 23, 4) (13, 27, 14)
Option 1: (25, 26, 2)
Option 2: (25, 27, 4)
Option 3: (25, 27, 2)
Option 4: (25, 26, 4)
Correct Answer: (25, 27, 2)
Solution : Given: (19, 23, 4) (13, 27, 14)
Here, the pattern followed is as follows – ⇒ (19, 23, 4)→23 – 19 = 4 ⇒ (13, 27, 14)→27 – 13 = 14
Let's check each option – First option: (25, 26, 2)→26 – 25
Question : Read the passage carefully and choose the best answer to each question out of the four alternatives.
Who would win in a fight, a lion or a tiger? Well, if size has anything to do with the matter, the tiger would win. That's because tigers are the largest of all cat species. They grow up to eleven feet long and weigh as much as 670lbs. This makes tigers the third largest land carnivore. The only larger land carnivores are polar bears and brown bears respectively. Tigers are not only large, but they are also fast. They can sprint as fast as 40 miles per hour for short distances and leap as far as 30 feet horizontally. This makes for an extremely dangerous pounce. You might not think that such large, fast, and ferocious creatures need help to survive, but they do. The tiger is an endangered species.
Despite all of the tiger's strengths, the future of the species is uncertain. Tigers face a very high risk of extinction. It is estimated that at the start of the 20th century, there were over 100,000 tigers living in the wild. By the turn of the century, the number of tigers outside of captivity dwindled to just over 3,000. Interestingly, the most serious threats that tigers face come from a much smaller species, one with an average weight of around 140lbs That species is Homo sapiens, better known as humans. Humans threaten tigers in primarily two ways: hunting and destroying habitat. Tigers are hunted for many reasons. People have long valued the famous striped skins. Though trading tiger skins is now illegal in most parts of the world, tiger pelts are worth around 10,000 on the black-market. Though the fur would be incentive enough for most poachers, other parts of the tiger can also fetch a pretty penny. Some people in China and other Asian cultures believe that various tiger parts have healing properties. Traditional Chinese medicine calls for the use of tiger bones, amongst other parts, in some prescriptions.
Question:
What is one of the primary reasons for the threat to tigers?

Option 2: Climate change
Option 3: Predators
Option 4: Humans
Correct Answer: Humans

Option 2: CDBA
Option 3: ACBD
Option 4: ADBC
Correct Answer: ACBD
Solution : The third option is the correct choice.
The paragraph starts by introducing tigers and their habitat (A), followed by information about the estimated population and characteristics of tigers (C). The mention of their nocturnal hunting habits is then presented (B), and the paragraph concludes with

Question : Directions: Two statements are given followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. Assuming the statements to be true, even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts, decide which of the conclusions logically follow(s) from the statements. Statements: All dogs are cats. No cat is a rat. Conclusions: I. Some rats are cats. II. Some dogs are rats.
Option 1: Neither conclusion I nor II follows
Option 2: Only conclusion I follows
Option 3: Both conclusions I and II follow
Option 4: Only conclusion II follows
Correct Answer: Neither conclusion I nor II follows
Solution : The possible Venn diagram for the given statements is as follows – Let's analyse the conclusions – Conclusion (I): Some rats are cats – From the above diagram, it is clear that there is a negative relation between rats and
