Forestry
Hello
In Thoothukudi-Tirunelveli district there are two colleges that offers M.Sc Forestry program but through entrance exam. So there are no colleges in that district that allot seats without entrance exam. If you still want admission in M.Sc forestry then you can go for other colleges in other states or district. These are the two colleges in your district that need entrance exam for admission in M.Sc Forestry: - Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam: ICAR AIEEA Entrance Exam - Tamil Nadu Agricultural University: University level exam.
hope it's helpfull for you
With 27,000 rank in ST category, your chances of getting into Forestry (B.Sc Forestry) in government agriculture universities are low, since Forestry cut-offs are generally much higher (under 10,000 for reserved). However, you may still get admission in B.Sc Agriculture, Horticulture, or allied courses in some government/private colleges under the ST quota.

Thank you!
CUTM generally begins its admission process for BSc Forestry around May to August every year. The admission is usually based on your performance in 12th standard (PCB/PCM group) and sometimes through their own entrance exam, CUEE . The university’s official website regularly updates the admission notifications, and candidates are expected to apply online, submit required documents, and appear for counseling. CUTM’s program is well-structured and provides practical exposure along with fieldwork. If you are specifically asking about 2025 admissions, by this time of the year, the process should already be active or about to begin.
With 83 percent in 10th, 68.8 percent in 12th PCB and 118 marks in OUAT, you have a fair chance of getting shortlisted in the counselling process. Selection also depends on your category, cutoff trends and seat availability in Forestry and other allied courses. Keep checking the official OUAT counselling portal regularly and fill your preferences carefully to maximize your chances.
With a KCET Practical Rank of 8340 and a Theory Rank of 17145 , and considering your 3A category with rural quota , your chances of getting a BSc Forestry seat in Sirsi or Ponnampet are low to moderate .
In previous years, the BSc Forestry cutoff ranks for 3A Rural Girls in Sirsi and Ponnampet colleges were usually within 2000 to 6000 (practical ranks) depending on category and availability of seats. Since your rank is 8340 , it is slightly beyond the usual cutoff range for these highly competitive colleges and courses.
Participate in counselling and include both Sirsi and Ponnampet Forestry colleges in your options.
Also, keep BSc Agriculture and BSc Horticulture programs in other universities as backup choices .
Monitor counselling rounds carefully, especially the second and final rounds.
Dear aspirant,
A cut off of 178.5 marks in the BC category might not be completely safe for a B.Sc Forestry seat but you may still have a fighting chance depending on the institute and its competition level. For example at TNAU the expected cutoff for B.Sc. Forestry in the OC/BC category is around 190 marks. while SC/ST cutoffs are slightly lower , around 180. So 178.5 marks is just a bit below the expected safe threshold. However the actual admission depends on the specific college's cut off reservation policies, seat availability, and application trends. It’s best to check with the university or counseling body for the precise cutoff for the BC category last year and consider applying if there’s flexibility or lower round admissions. Good luck!

Hello Deepasri,
For the general category students under the state quota, the safest cutoff for B.Sc. Forestry at the Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is usually between 190 to 195 out of 200. Please note that every year this could change according to reservations category, competition level, and available seats. Therefore, aiming for above 195 is the safe bet for ensuring your admission.
Hello aspirant,
In Karnataka, forestry is now offered by three colleges. Candidates must pass a number of national, state, or university-level entrance tests in order to be admitted to Karnataka's forestry-related institutions.

Dear Candidate , With a KCET agriculture rank of 17,232 and a practical exam rank of 8,340 , you have a fair chance of securing a B. Sc ( Hons ) . Forestry seat in Karnataka, particularly at the Colleges of Forestry , Sirsi or Ponnampet . Both colleges had previous year cutoffs around 9,000-11,000 in practical rank , so your rank falls within or close to the closing range . Your chaces improve if you belong to a reserved category . Make sure to participate in all counseling rounds , including mop-up and regularly check the KEA official website for updates .
