Dear Ramesh, IES exam consists of 3 stages.

• Stage 1 or Preliminary Examination,
• Stage 2 or Mains Examination and
• Stage 3 or Personal Interview

• Indian Engineering Service examination (Stage 1 and Stage 2) is conducted in offline mode.
• Questions in Preliminary Exam are objective type. Whereas, questions in Mains Exam are conventional in nature.
• The medium of examination is English.
• For every wrong answer, one-third mark will be deducted.
  

Engineering aspirants who qualify Prelims as per IES Cut off are eligible to appear for IES Mains scheduled for July 1 (tentative). The nationwide engineering exam is conducted for recruitment to various posts in Indian Engineering Services, under the Government of India.

Stage 1 will have two papers. Paper 1 will have questions from General Studies and Paper 2 will have questions from Engineering Discipline.

For each wrong answer, one-third mark is deducted. Candidates marking more than one answer, it is treated as a wrong answer. Questions left unanswered will have no deduction for marks. Marks obtained in this stage are counted for determining the final order of merit.

Bachelors of Engineering

• It is purly a nowledge based course
• emphasis is on theory

Bachelors of Technology

• It is purly skill based course
• emphasis in on application and practicals.

These are the major difference which make these courses different.

well salary isn't the only parameter to judge but if we are focussing on that only the salary/grade pay for govt employees change on every new pay comission or on the basis of seniority/ promotion. if we are talking about jobs then private sector do have an ample amount of jobs paying much more than govt jobs
