Sir/Mam If I receive a average package of 24L per annum in IIM Kozhikode then how much salary will I get on the first month of salary?

Ritik nakra Student Expert 4th Sep, 2019

Hey Deepan! Congratulations you have cracked very nice package. The package you got is the dream package for many of the candidates. So coming back to your question ₹ 24 lakhs per annum means, ₹ 2 lakhs per month so after some additional cuts (like PFs) you must get around ₹ 1.80 lakhs per month.

is work experience mandatory to get into iim kozhikode

deepanshuj0108 Student Expert 26th Aug, 2019

Hello Aspirant,

It is not necessary that you should have a work experience to get an admission. If you check the current 2018–20 batch of IIM Calcutta, almost 20% of the students are freshers. However, IIMs do give weightage to work experience while shortlisting which can be used to compensate for bad academics or CAT percentile.

10th (science )=67% ; 12 th (science maths) 80% cicse board ; b.com 58% . What shouldbe the minimum %tile in CAT getting call from iim k

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 17th Aug, 2019
Dear Jhanvi, IIM Kozhikhode is one of the top IIMS of our country. IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Tiruchirapalli, MDI Gurgaon, IIM Udaipur, IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, XIM Bhubaneshwar and New IIMS need 90 percentile. The average selection rate is less than one in hundred candidates. So you need to aim for more than 90 percentile. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT score and 10th, 12th marks. The short listed candidates will have to apear for Written Ability Test. Unlike Last year, IIM Khozikode will not conduct a Personal Interview this year. All scores are given equal weightage before finalising the admission of any Candidate. In 2018, the section wise preference was as follows:

                               CAT            CAT sectional        10th          12th

UR                         90                          80                     60              60

OBC-NC                80                         70                     60              60

SC                          65                         50                     55              55

ST/PWD               55                         40                     55              55

While CAT score remains the main criteria for selection, IIMs also consider other factors like previous academic performance, work experience, gender and Academic diversity.

IIM Khozikhode Admission Criteria for 2019- 21; Shortlisting criteria:

  • CAT Overall Index Score carried 75% weightage
  • Class 12 percentage carried 7.5% weightage
  • Graduation score carried 7.5% weightage
  • Work Experience carried 5% weightage
  • Academic diversity factor carried 5% weightage

With such cut throat competition, you require a solid preparation. This might help you:

NCERT books will sharpen your basics and you need strong basics for preparing for any entrance examination. Once your basics are in place, because the time period for preparation is quite less, your preparation should be extensive and thorough.

Quantitative Aptitude covers almost 30% of the CAT question paper. QA can be categorised into Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Mathematics. Practise chapter by chapter and develop mental calculations. Like practise more of basic summation, subtraction, fractions and tables. Numbers, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Ratio, Proportionality, Time-Distance, Time-Work, Mixtures, Averages, Partnership, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Set Theory, Progression and Series, Line, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygon, Circles, Ares, Volume, Height and Distance, Coordinate Geometry, Basic Trigonometry are few important topics.

Preparation tips:

Because this section involves mathematics and takes most of your time, your focus should be on solving the problems efficiently in the beginning. Even if it takes time, practise upto perfection. Practise as many questions as you can in the conventional way. As and when you get a grip on the subject, you can go for short cuts. Memorise tables, square roots, cube roots, conversion from percent to fraction, etc. Solve sample papers on Mathematics. In the beginning, do not worry about the time it takes. As you practise, you will get the hang of the subject and it will be easier for you.

In Verbal Ability session, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.

Preparation tips:

Read articles from time to time. Follow newspapers, magazines, and watch the news channels and browse the internet to keep yourself updated. You will need a lot of reading to help you in the comprehension section. You will need speed to help you in this section and you can achieve that only by thorough practise and reading. Take time to understand the question because most answers are interlinked.

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning needs to be practised as much as possible. Comparison of data, Data Analysis, taking clues, interpreting missing data, coming to conclusions and making future projections will be covered under this Category. The questions here are interlinked and so if you get one formula correct, cracking the next few questions will be easy. So it's important to memorise and practise formulae. You should cover topics like Data tables, Data Charts, Bar Diagrams, Pie Charts, Graphs, Data Comparison and Analysis.

Preparation tips:

As this is the most tricky section, this needs a lot of practise. Solve as many sample papers as possible to get the hang of the section. Make notes when required. Regular practise can help you understand and solve the questions easily as time goes on.

    • Overall, once you know the syllabus, it's easier from there on.Go through the previous papers to analyse and prepare a comprehensive plan and set priorities according to the importance of different topics across sections. Customise your study plan based on your strengths and weaknesses. Gauge your preparation from time to time by taking mock tests.

Hi sir/maam I have scored 74% in 10 and might score 85% in 12 what are my chances to get a call from iimk ? How much to be scored in cat ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 10th Sep, 2019
Dear Kunal, in 2018, the cut offs for shortlisting for IIM-K for various Categories are as follows:

CAT Score Sectional X Class XII Class
Percentile Percentile % %
GEN 90 80 60 60
OBC NC 80 70 60 60
SC 65 50 55 55
ST/PWD 55 40 55 55

Now those Candidates who have selected IIM-K and fulfil this criteria should register themselves. Only successfully registered Candidates will be shortlisted for further rounds which are WAT and PI based on Aggregate Index Score. The Aggregate Index score os calculated as follows:

CAT 2020 Index Score: 75%

Academic Diversity Factor: 5%

And the final Composite score is calculated as follows:

CAT 2020 Index Score: 40%

Nishtha_1559907112 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

Hello aspirant, you have really good marks no doubt. Getting a placement or dropping for CAT are two completely different directions with different pros and cons respectively. You should give your aptitude tests and get a job too if you want. Working requires a lot of time and getting back on studies can be a little difficult but you will get through it. You can surely take your time fo r atleast 2 years to work or to just focus on your post graduation. All the very best to you.

My 12 percentage is 63 and cat score is 99.8, I belongs to Sc category can I get call from iimk

Aman Kumar Tiwari Student Expert 17th Jul, 2019

Hii deepan,

Coming to your question I would like to tell you that your cat score is up to the mark to get a call from the iimk , if you had a work experience then its weightage is 5% in the selection procedure. A candidate work experience must be of 6 months after graduation. So there are chances of you to get a call from iimk as your cat score is decent according to your category as mentioned above.

Hope this helps you ,

Good luck.
