I don't know in which examination you have qualified for the examination. Now in general the discrepancy in the provided details is taken as an serious disciplinary measures for most of the colleges. Now if you have made this mistake then you have to contact the IIT KGP admission cell as soon as possible and get it discussed.
Now in general it will not led you to serious problem as most of the examinations the asked CGPA is around 6.0.So you will cross the eligibility thats for sure. So don't worry just inform them and they will guide you some ways to change the information.
I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
Hey,
Congratulations on your admission. Let me tell you, hardware and core branches very good choices if you want to stay connected to hardware. The placements at IIT Kharagpur are quite good. All you need to do is maintain you GPAs and do some projects and grab best internships. They will make you ready for further job opportunities.
If we talk about placements, almost all the Electronics Engineering students get places in reputed companies across India as well as abroad.
If you're in RF then most probably you'll be placed in one of the best semiconductor companies of India like Intel, Qualcomm, ST Microelectronics, Samsung Semiconductor etc. Other companies that recruit are General Electric, Siemens , Boeing etc. If you've secured an admission in this branch than be sure that you'll get one of the best jobs in the country. However, chances of getting a core RF job is less but not nil compared to other IITs. You'll get opportunities in rf domain from companies like Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Siemens etc. Package wise the average ctc will be around 13–15 lac. Though most of the candidate will have a ctc greater than 15 lac.
I hope this helps.
Dear student,
Companies like ACCENTURE, American Express, BCG, Bosch Ltd, Capital One, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, EXL Services, Facebook etc. recruits the students of this branch in IIT Kharagpur.
It is said that the median salary for this branch is 16.7 lakh Median but more than that IIT Kharagpur is one of the best place of country to learn EM theory, Transmission lines, Antennas, EM Computational Techniques etc.
I hope this answer helps you.
All the very best!!
Honestly speaking, unless youre interested in Public Research Organizations like ISRO, DRDO or pursing a PhD in Future, RF & Microwave Branch has low placements across IITs, when compared to VLSI & Embedded Systems Branch. Incase you have fair chances of securing a seat at some of the Top 3-5NITs, you might just opt for them. VLSI Branch at NITs like NITT, Karnataka, Calicut, Rourkela, Nagpur, Warangal have really good placements.
You might either select for RF & Microwave at IIT KGP and opt for sliding, incase you think you have better options like VLSI at some of the Top 8 IITs. Honestly speaking, RF & Microwave students have lower prospects when it comes to placements. You do have options still, but most of the Electronics Companies open for VLSI & Embedded Systems Stream. You still have options with Software, Analytics, Data Science, Edtech Firms and Startups, but youll have a very effective and interesting college life at KGP with its diverse culture and excellent faculty and research facilities. Incase youre planning Government Jobs, PSUs or joining Public Research Organizations like DRDO, ISRO, BARC, CSIR where effectively RF & Microwave Technology comes in real use, IIT KGP is the best place. Even if youre planning a PhD in future, this is the place for you.
